Osteopathy

Osteopathy was developed by Dr Andrew Still, a union doctor in the American Civil war, over a hundred years ago. It works on the practice that a healthy body is a well balanced body throughout.

It is believed that without drugs, and proper manipulation, the body has the ability to heal itself.

This coupled with the patients lifestyle, taking into account, work, diet, hobbies, and general posture, can produce rapid results, where medication has failed or not preferred.

Headcorn Natural Health Centre has several Osteopaths available for treatment.

  • Anna Reeve
  • Rebecca Joblin
  • Brian Walklett
  • Vanessa Darlington

We also have an Osteomyologist available:

  • David Howard

Brian Walklett joined the team at the clinic on Saturday 12/11/2011.

As Brian has worked closely with Anna Reeve on several projects in the past and they both share similar views in their osteopathic approach his integration into the practice is considered an asset.

After completing an Honours degree and qualifying as an osteopath in 1997 Brian studied for a PGC in education and an Advanced Osteopathic Medicine Masters degree. As well as running a practice in New Zealand where he worked alongside seven GP’s, he was principle of his own practice here in the UK for eight years.

Brian has also worked as an Osteopathic Lecturer and Tutor at the European School of Osteopathy; On behalf of the ESO his duties included examining overseas students in practical examinations and lecturing in both Russia and France.

Running his own practice for 10 years, plus his role as an Examiner and Teacher, coupled with his research experience and sporting background has enabled Brian to develop as a multi-disciplined practitioner. This has allowed him to treat a wide range of complaints in all age groups from birth to the more senior citizens, using a diversity of techniques from the totally structural approach to the softer functional and cranial approaches.

Brian is also interested in incorporating osteopathic treatment with fitness and cardiovascular risk assessment and is able to carry out cholesterol and diabetes testing.
