Hypnotherapy
Kim Bromley
What is hypnosis and hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is a totally natural state which most people experience several times a day.
We automatically go into hypnotic trance-like state any time we become deeply relaxed or highly focused on a given activity – when driving, reading or watching TV for example.
This relaxation allows the conscious mind to rest and go into a neutral state – by doing so it allows communication with the subconscious mind directly.
Hypnotherapy is a powerful process because the subconscious mind can create instant changes.
The subconscious mind can be likened to a child, in that it can accept whatever it is told as the truth, within reason of course.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Yes. Anyone can be hypnotized provided they want to be. No one can be hypnotized against their will. Some people find it easier to relax than others.
By the same token, some people are able to go into hypnosis more quickly and more deeply than others. Most people can go into at least a light trance and with most hypnotherapeutic goals that is enough so therefore everyone can benefit from hypnotherapy to some extent.
What does it feel like?
There is no universal “hypnotized feeling”, because everyone’s experience of hypnosis is different. The general feeling is of a deeply relaxed state, and you will be completely aware of your surroundings at all times. You may feel light (or weightless), or you may feel very heavy (as if sinking into the chair).
Most people find the experience very calming and relaxing, giving them a sense of peace, comfort and well-being.
Often people leave the session feeling rejuvenated and refreshed as it’s similar to experiencing a couple of hours sleep!
What hypnotherapy can do
Hypnotherapy can help somebody achieve something that they do want to do. It can also help somebody to stop doing something they want to stop doing.
What hypnotherapy can not do, the myths exposed
Hypnosis can not make people do anything that they do not want to do.
It cannot MAKE anybody do anything against their will (whatever you may be told to the contrary).
If a suggestion was made to anybody in the state of hypnosis, which truly offended his or her ideals or sensibilities, then that person would simply break the hypnotic state and walk away from the entire situation.
You can leave the hypnotic state whenever you want to! You are totally aware of yourself and your surroundings at all times.
Hypno Gastric Band
The combination of addressing psychological issues together with the Gastric Band Hypnosis, results in a very powerful method treat emotional overeating which helps to create a new attitude towards food and thus supports weight reduction.
What is Gastric Band Hypnosis
The principle of the therapy is that the client is convinced at a subconscious level that a gastric band operation has been performed.
The subconscious mind therefore believes that there has been a major reduction in stomach capacity and the body therefore responds differently to hunger and the amount of food that can be eaten. As well as reduction in the quantity of food that can be eaten, a change in the type of food takes place with the individual far happier eating lighter foods rather than “heavy” meals.
The therapy itself simulates the Gastric Band surgical procedure and great care is taken to accurately represent the technical aspects of the surgery.
